Closing the gap between conventional CFD and kinetic simulation.

Advanced-flow simulation for re-entry, hypersonics and VLEO—designed to improve confidence where conventional CFD becomes unreliable, without the full cost of kinetic methods.

Our Solution

Conventional CFD is computationally affordable but loses accuracy in hypersonic rarefied and non-equilibrium flows. Particle-based kinetic methods such as DSMC provide higher physical fidelity but are often too computationally expensive for routine engineering design. Grey Hawk Research is developing simulation technology that bridges this gap.

Grey Hawk Research develops simulation technology powered by new advances in fluid mechanics.

Our Team

Grey Hawk Research is a research-led venture emerging from the University of Nottingham. Its technology builds on advances in mechanics and enriched continuum modelling and is currently undergoing technical and industrial validation.

Our technology captures rarefaction, gas-surface interaction and real-gas thermochemistry while maintaining computational costs comparable to conventional CFD.

This enables engineers to make better design decisions without sacrificing computational efficiency for atmospheric re-entry, hypersonic vehicles, Very Low Earth Orbit missions and other advanced aerospace and defence applications.

We are interested in talking to:

  • Aerospace & defence
  • Space companies
  • CFD software vendors
  • Engineering consultancies
  • Cloud simulation providers
  • Research laboratories

We would love your feedback on our technology.

We are seeking partners in re-entry, hypersonics and VLEO to explore relevant validation cases.
